Troubleshooting Stripe Connection Issues

Common Stripe problems and solutions.

Connection Failed

Symptoms

  • "Connect with Stripe" button doesn't work

  • Redirects to error page

  • "Connection timeout" message

Solutions

1. Clear Browser Cache

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy → Clear browsing data

  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data

  • Firefox: Options → Privacy → Clear Data

2. Try Different Browser

  • Chrome (recommended)

  • Safari

  • Firefox

  • Edge

3. Disable Extensions

  • Ad blockers can interfere

  • Privacy extensions (Ghostery, Privacy Badger)

  • VPN extensions

4. Check Pop-up Blocker

  • Stripe onboarding opens in new window

  • Allow pop-ups for preppable.com

Verification Pending

What It Means

Stripe is reviewing your application:

  • Standard: 1-2 business days

  • Complex Cases: Up to 7 days

What to Do

Nothing! Wait for Stripe email.

Speed Up Process

  • Ensure all information complete

  • Upload required documents

  • Respond quickly to Stripe requests

Charges Not Enabled

Why It Happens

  • Verification incomplete

  • Missing information

  • Identity verification pending

  • Bank account not verified

How to Fix

  1. Check email for Stripe requests

  2. Complete any pending steps

  3. Wait for approval

Payouts Not Enabled

Common Causes

  • Bank Account Not Verified: Stripe sends micro-deposits (takes 2-3 days)

  • Additional Info Needed: Check Stripe email

  • Tax ID Issue: Verify EIN or SSN

How to Fix

  1. Check verification status

  2. Complete micro-deposit verification if needed

  3. Confirm amounts from bank statement

Account Restricted

What Happened

Stripe flagged account for:

  • Unusual activity

  • High chargeback rate

  • Policy violation

  • Identity mismatch

What to Do

  1. Check email from Stripe for reason

  2. Provide requested information

  3. Contact Stripe Support (not Preppable)

  4. Wait for review

Re-Connecting Stripe

When Needed

  • Changed business structure

  • New bank account

  • Moved to new state

  • Previous connection had issues

How to Re-Connect

  1. Go to Billing Dashboard

  2. Click Disconnect Stripe (if connected)

  3. Confirm disconnection

  4. Click Connect with Stripe

  5. Complete onboarding again

Warning: Disconnecting pauses all charges. Only disconnect if necessary.

Stripe Dashboard Access

Can't Log In?

  1. Click Forgot Password

  2. Reset password

  3. Log in

Different Email?

If you connected Stripe with different email than Preppable:

  • This is normal

  • Use Stripe email for Stripe dashboard

  • Use Preppable email for Preppable dashboard

Error Messages

"Invalid Stripe Account"

  • Cause: Account deleted or deactivated

  • Fix: Reconnect with new account

"Stripe API Error"

"Missing Required Information"

  • Cause: Incomplete Stripe profile

  • Fix: Complete setup in Stripe Dashboard
